Beyond the cheese effects of the 70's, the show was great with excellent character development and stories. Will is really going to muck it up, sure it will be a hit, but for the wrong reasons. I was really hoping for a good sci-fi flick here, I mean "Journey to the Center of the Earth" was a total let down. I was EXTREMELY excited for this movie until I learned it was another Will Ferrel comedy… really? However, I don't think Land of the Lost was and is supposed to be a comedy. I'm sure a different actor would make all the difference in this new rendition. As well, I feel it does Sid & Marty Krofft a great injustice by turning a once decent Saturday morning show into a spoof of sorts. I just think it's sad, bottom line.... It is as I feared - it's ruined. The best thing Will Ferrell could have done for that movie would have been to drive his car into the Grand Canyon - before production started! What do we have to do to get rid of this man? He destroys everything he touches, and I know fifth graders who are better actors! I loved LOTL when I was a kid. A few years ago, I bought the entire series on DVD for MY kids. When I heard a movies was coming - I was ecstatic. The basis for an excellent adventure was there. Now, it is a waste of celluloid - much the way Ferrell is a waste of skin.
