Land of the Lost Movie Poster

16 Jan 2009 | Posted in Krofft Movies |

Marshall, Will and Holly at it again.Sorry for the lack of updates. Some personal life stuff has gotten in the way of what I had hoped would be a big couple of years for KROFFT.NET (with the new movies and everything). As you can see, we have the official poster for this years Land of the Lost with Will Ferrell and Anna Friel.

I like the poster, but wonder if it is going to confuse non-Krofft fans. It looks allot like last years Journey to the Center of the Earth. As a long time fan of the works for the Krofft Brothers, I worry that they’ll be labeled as copycats. All we can do is hope for the best.

Sid and Marty Krofft shows have been a large part of my nearly 40 years of life. I hope that Land of the Lost is the first of many successful ( and respectful to fans ) movies to come.

Tell us what you think.

I hope it’s succesful enough that they get Sigmund and Pufnstuf’s film underway pretty quickly, the rest of the old stuff released on DVD, and some good new merchandise.

You don’t have to be Witchy-poo to see the future of this one. The Land of the Lost Movie will do for Krofft films what Doom did for video game to movie productions (Halo project was cancelled because of Doom). It is true the show is dated, but the stories and concept were fantastic. Weak acting and poor special effects removed, this show could, with today’s standards reach Battlestar Galactica levels. The 90’s attempt at a remake sold out by becoming too cutesy/kid friendly and went for cheap special effects. Now we are going to go for potty humor, slapstick shrieking and running around that 3 year olds find funny. There was an early Fantastic Four movie that was never shown because it was sooo bad they feared it would ruin superhero movies. Krofft family listen to reason! Pull the plug and save your franchise, wait for a better take on your 70’s icon and vision. Have some pride! Ferrell will drag you down with him.

I was so excited about this movie until I just found out that Will F’n Farrell stars in it! What a waste of a potentially great remake. Who knows, maybe he will surprize me and not be a complete idiot, but I am not going to hold my breath or buy tickets. I just have one question…WHY?!!!

i was sad to see that you were useing will Farrell there has got to be better actors than him it is sad your company was the excitment of a lot of saterday mornings and now well good luck my prayers with you

Well, just watched the trailer for the new Land of the Lost movie. It is as I feared – it’s ruined. The best thing Will Ferrell could have done for that movie would have been to drive his car into the Grand Canyon – before production started! What do we have to do to get rid of this man? He destroys everything he touches, and I know fifth graders who are better actors!

I loved LOTL when I was a kid. A few years ago, I bought the entire series on DVD for MY kids. When I heard a movies was coming – I was ecstatic. The basis for an excellent adventure was there. Now, it is a waste of celluloid – much the way Ferrell is a waste of skin. It’s a movie I will not be wasting my money on and one I will recommend all other fans I know NOT support with their dollars. My dissapointment knows no bounds.

Sid and Marty – What have you done!!?? If it’s not too late, PLEEEEEASE scrap this piece of trash and start over with a real script and real actors. It’s time somebody in Hollywood has the garbonzos to kick Ferrell to the curb!

Maybe both studios had the same idea at the same time, and it wasn’t their fault?

I don’t have anything against Will Ferrell, I find him to be a decent, comedic actor. However, I don’t think Land of the Lost was and is supposed to be a comedy. I’m sure a different actor would make all the difference in this new rendition. As well, I feel it does Sid & Marty Krofft a great injustice by turning a once decent Saturday morning show into a spoof of sorts. I just think it’s sad, bottom line….

I was EXTREMELY excited for this movie until I learned it was another Will Ferrel comedy… really? Beyond the cheese effects of the 70’s, the show was great with excellent character development and stories. Will is really going to muck it up, sure it will be a hit, but for the wrong reasons. I was really hoping for a good sci-fi flick here, I mean “Journey to the Center of the Earth” was a total let down.

i saw the trailer for the movie land of the lost when my friend and i went to see star trek movie. i love the sid amd marty krofft shows anna freil is great in it. but will ferrell and the guy who plays will are not the better choices for the movie. the specail effects rock, not so sure about the story line, though. lotl i not a comedy, marshall was always a father figure couragious and tough, not a baffune, like will ferrell makes him out to be. good luck and please make a movie of electra woman and dyna girl and bigfoot and wildboy. ill audition for a part as a forest ranger in bigfoot and wildboy.

I watched LOTL on the Sci-Fi channel this weekend and laughed so hard I cried. I grew up w/ Sid & Marty too and I look at what they did and think ” Wow! These guys must have hired LSD testers to write that stuff. For Sid & Marty’s sake, lighten up people.
