Hello Marshall, Will and Holly

22 Jul 2008 | Posted in Krofft Movies |

Hot off the heels of “Land of the Lost” filming wrapping up and the Krofft Brothers joining MySpace we have our first picture of Marshall, Will and Holly together.

Yes, the story is no longer about a park ranger and his children. Anna Friel (Holly) is Ferrell’s love interest in the film not his daughter, and McBride (Will) is not Rick’s son either. With my renewed faith in this production I’m now worried for the success of the project. This summer’s “Journey to the Center of the Earth” with Brendan Fraser was very close to this version of LOTL. What would have distinguished LOTL from Journey3D is the familial relationship between the characters. I’m afraid that the uninitiated will view LOTL as a knockoff.

I’m almost convinced that us old fans of “Land of the Lost” will be pleased with the movie. I just hope that the Krofft Brothers’ first feature film in over 30 years has wide enough appeal to be a huge success. The success that they (and us fans) deserve.

Not sure I’m liking it. Okay, so we’re not talking Shakespeare..I still hate messing with memories …call me a sentimental fool.

Oh, and while I’m on the subject, let me just say that, while I have great deal of respect for Johnny Depp, if he even THINKS of stepping into the role immortalized by Billie Hayes, (Witchiepoo) I’ll ….I’ll cram him into a phone booth and send Victor Cassidine’s henchmen after him, that’s what!

At the VERY least….should such a venture be attempted, that role should be filled by a woman…ANDREA MARTIN!!!!!! A character she created is JUST close enough to Billie’s style to pull it off.

LOTL movie? If you don’t know the difference between the LOTL and Journey with B. Frasier then stay at home. LOTL movie would kick Journeys Butt!

  3. [...] the poster, but wonder if it is going to confuse non-Krofft fans. It looks allot like last years Journey to the Center of the Earth. As a long time fan of the works for the Krofft Brothers, I worry that they’ll be labeled as [...]

Bad Idea! Can it and wait for a rewrite and recasting. Ferrell is no Marshall and the original show was not a comedy it was an adventure. The money isn’t worth it Sid and Marty, save your franchise, don’t let it be shown!

Oh man, I am soooooo disapointed. I consider myself a “child” of the Sid and Marty Krofft era. I lived for their programing as child in the 70’s and 80’s. I will see it out of pure curiosity. But I can not promise I will like it. LOTL was my favorite Saturday morning show!

  6. I’m with the rest of them, Marshall didn’t need a love intrest. Why couldn’t it be kept in it’s original form. I’m enjoying the Memorial day marathon of LOTL on the SCI-FI channel today, and looking back realize how fun the show was. The new generation may like it but us old vetrans of LOTL will not. Sorry

  7. Rick says:

I always hoped a movie remake of LOTL would somehow come to fruition but to make it a comedy was downright disrespectful to the fans of the original television series. Although, watching the Memorial Day marathon on the Sci-fi channel today reveals the flaws in the FX of the era (I can remember them being much less cheesy when I was a kid) the story line is one of the most intelligent I can remember from any Saturday morning programming. If only someone could have reimagined this with a more serious approach to Alternate Dimensions, Time Travel and Prehistoric Creatures this could have been a seriously excellent adventure film.
That being said, I’m sure this new film is freakin’ hilarious.
